Sandy Elkins

Melissa Bell

I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Illinois and a Master of Library and Information Science from Dominican University in Illinois. I have worked with children ages 2 to 18, and especially enjoy children’s literature. In 2013, my family moved to Chester Springs and I started subbing at St. Matthew’s in 2014. I have moved from substitute to Assistant Teacher then finally to Teacher in 2017. I am a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, and I enjoy reading, walking, travelling, and spending time with my husband and 2 daughters. Contact me at

Emily Black

I have been involved with St. Matthews since 2009 when my children were young students. After my children completed their time at St. Matthews I started subbing in all the classes. I absolutely love St. Matthew’s and what it offers to the children. Starting with the young two’s all the way through the Kindergarten Full day class. I have three beautiful children. When I am not caring for my children or working at St. Matthew’s I enjoy walking my dog, the beach, and cooking. Contact me at

Liz Culbertson

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from the University of South Florida and a teaching certificate from West Chester University. While in Florida, I taught elementary school for the Pinellas County School District. In 2017, my husband and I decided we wanted to raise our children near family so we moved to Chester County. Shortly after our move, we found St. Matthew’s and fell in love with the school and staff. I began working as the school’s administrative assistant in the summer of 2021. I enjoy the beach and spending time with family and friends.

Jen Faust

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Millersville University and previously taught 5th grade before taking time off to stay at home with my four boys. I joined the St. Matthew’s staff in 2018 and was so excited to get back into the classroom doing what I love. Michelle Favara

I have a Bachelor of Music from the Hartt School at the University of Hartford and a Master of Music from West Chester University. I have taught vocal and orchestral music to all ages and am excited to be back at St. Matthew's! I also direct the 7-Ups show choir at Owen J. Roberts High School. Christina Kuchera

I have been teaching both in elementary school and preschool since 2000. I have a Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders with a minor in Human Development and Family Studies from Penn State University. I also have my teaching certificate from West Chester University. In that time, I taught preschool, kindergarten, third, and fourth grades. I have been involved with St. Matthew's since my youngest son attended preschool in 2018. In 2021, I started working at St. Matthews as an assistant teacher to a fantastic 3's class. I have been involved with St. Matthew's since 2009 when my oldest started preschool here. I previously served on the school board, subbed, and assisted in the Enrichment class. I graduated from Millersville University with a degree in Education. I have five children that have all been a part of the St. Matthew's program. I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Wayne State University in Michigan. In 2006 my husband, myself and 4 children moved to Chester Springs where I found myself loving the world of St. Matthew's. I started subbing when my boys were here and became a three's teacher shortly after. I enjoy sharing my time with children and can't imagine a day without being here. I started at St. Matthew's as the school secretary in 2010. Since then, I have added working as a teaching assistant in one of our four year classes and I am now teaching in the afternoons. I have been involved with St. Matthew’s since 2006 when my children were here as students. After they moved onto elementary school, I started subbing because I loved the school so much! In 2013 I began a regular position as an Assistant in the afternoon 3 year old class. In 2017 I was thrilled to take a teaching position. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Richmond and a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Arcadia University. In my spare time I love to crochet, read, and be at the beach.
